An opportunity to be an Assistant Commercial Accountant for a leading UK distribution company based in Solihull, who have low staff turnover and are dedicated to what they do. This role gives you an amazing opportunity to grow within a large business that operate all over the UK.

Main Duties:

As an Assistant Commercial Accountant, your main duties include:

  • Assist with month-end and quarter-end processes across European entities, ensuring all costs are accurately recorded and journals for accruals and prepayments are correctly posted.
  • Business partner with sales and commercial teams to interpret financial performance and provide clear, insightful analysis.
  • Contribute to the budgeting and forecasting process, providing relevant analysis and support.
  • Liaise with external partners to ensure compliance with payroll, audit, and reporting requirements.
  • Prepare overhead reports and analyse variances against budget and prior-year results.
  • Maintain accuracy in European sales data through consistent validation, reconciliation, and reporting
  • Assist with balance sheet reconciliations and associated documentation.
  • Deliver timely financial reports for business units in line with the reporting timetable.
  • Participate in regular stock audits to ensure accuracy and correct valuation.
  • Produce and analyse sales and volume reports to support business performance monitoring.
  • Manage queries relating to foreign currency transactions and reporting.
  • Support the ongoing improvement and development of internal processes and controls.
  • Provide assistance with ad hoc financial projects as required.
  • Support senior finance team members with key deliverables and initiatives.
  • Comply with company health and safety policies and contribute to maintaining a safe working environment.

What We Are Looking For

The ideal candidate will have:

  • AAT qualified, studying towards CIMA, ACA or ACCA
  • A minimum of 2 years in a Finance role.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • High level of IT literacy with the ability to quickly adapt to new systems and technologies.
  • Able to work effectively under pressure, managing multiple priorities and deadlines in a dynamic environment.
