Main Duties
As an Assistant Management Accountant, your main duties include:
- Support the preparation of monthly management accounts, including posting journals (accruals and prepayments)
- Assist in delivering a timely and accurate month-end close process
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances
- Maintain the fixed asset register, including additions, disposals, and depreciation
- Produce and analyse financial and operational reports to support decision-making
- Develop and monitor KPIs and performance dashboards
- Identify financial trends, risks, and opportunities, providing actionable insights
- Provide financial support and business partnering to key stakeholders
- Assist with costing, margin analysis, and pricing decisions
- Support cost control initiatives and collaborate with operations to understand cost drivers
- Contribute to cash flow forecasting and perform related reconciliations
Location / Office / Culture
The company operate from a family friendly office in Worcester. You’ll add to a growing finance team in a developmental role contributing to precise financial reporting, maintaining strong internal controls, and providing insights to support business decisions. The company offers 25 days of holiday plus bank holidays.
What We Are Looking For
The ideal candidate will have:
- Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience (e.g. AAT or early career in finance)
- Currently studying, or intending to study, towards a professional qualification such as ACCA or CIMA
- Strong numerical and analytical skills, with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- High level of attention to detail, with strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Previous internship, placement, or experience within a finance environment
- Exposure to accounting systems or ERP platforms is advantageous
