Birmingham is booming! The city centre has materially changed over the last 5 years, with paradise and the metro extension to name just a couple.
With all this in mind, we thought we would show off some of the most exciting companies that have accounting functions in and around Birmingham. This is by no means an exhaustive list!
Stratford-upon-Avon
Founded in 1975 by Sir Peter Rigby, the Rigby Group is the parent company of several privately owned technology, aviation and hospitality businesses operating across Europe. The business turnover is circa £3.8n and is based between Birmingham and Stratford offices.
Rubery
Compass group PLC is one of the worlds leading providers of food services, operating in 30 countries with over half a million employees. Based in Rubery is a large office and the business serves everything from Schools to Premier League football stadiums.
Derby
An critically important Aerospace company, based in and around Derby. Rolls Royce design and manufacture of engines for aircraft for both military and commercial use. They’re currently the second largest manufacturer of aircraft engines in the world. While their head office is in Derby, they have multiple sites across the country.
Birmingham
A household technology name, BT is based across the UK. In Birmingham, BT has a large presence in the new Snow Hill buildings.
Stafford
Founded in Uttoxeter in 1945 by Joseph Cyril Bamford, JCB has 22 plants on four continents. Beginning with construction equipment and tractors, they later diversified into power tools, generators, and access platforms. JCB has a number of important sites around Uttoxeter.
Warwick
National Grid is an electricity, natural gas, and clean energy delivery company serving more than 20 million people. Warwick is a large, important site for National Grid.
Coventry
Established in 1974, Severn Trent is responsible for most water supply and sewage disposal in the Midlands. They serve an estimated 4.6 million homes and businesses in the area. Their headquarters is situated in Coventry.
Worcester
One of the UK’s leading social landlords, Sanctuary is dedicated to building sustainable communities. With over 50 years’ of trading and 70,000 homes across the country, this not-for-profit organisation reinvests any surplus they make. They are one of the largest employers in Worcester.
Kingswinford
Established in 1987, London Cambridge Properties is a leading privately owned investment and property management company operating in key locations throughout the UK, Poland, Romania and Germany. They’re part of the MCore Group.
Blythe Valley, Solihull
Everyone’s talking about it. A truly exciting business that is ripping up the rule book in many sports clothing categories. Started from a garage, the business was the fastest growing in the UK in 2016 and hit over £100m in sales for 2018. This unique business has a fantastic purpose built office complete with barbers, beauty salon and napping pods.
Enderby
Founded in 1864, Next plc is one of the largest clothing retailers in the UK with 500 stores operating domestically along with another 200 in Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. They also have a place on the FTSE 100 index.
