Useful Resources for Self-Funded ACCA or CIMA Qualifications.
Studying for an ACCA or CIMA qualification, but didn’t get the study support from your employer? Check out some of these resources to help you pass your exams while saving the pennies!
What you’ll find here: Online resources with useful information for studying ACCA and CIMA qualifications, including YouTube channels and websites approved by the professional bodies.
What you won’t find: Free textbook downloads. We’re not advocating piracy, especially as ACCA is cracking down on websites which offer free textbooks and can subject members to disciplinary action for using them.
Videos and Podcasts
ACCA
- Agnes Mann: A YouTuber who studied an ACCA qualification, who shares videos about her journey, including her tips and tricks
- James Wright: An ACCA qualified accountant who provides study tips on his YouTube channel
- Tom Clendon: An ACCA lecturer who provides study tips for Strategic Business Reporting exams
- Ben Wilson: An ACCA expert tutor who provides advice on the Advanced Audit and Assurance module
- Jo Tuffill: An ACCA online tutor specialising in Performance Management
- Sunil Bhandari: While this ACCA tutor’s YouTube channel was only established recently, it provides common questions and answers about the Financial Management and Advanced Financial Management modules
- Kaplan: One of the official providers of ACCA and CIMA textbooks, Kaplan’s YouTube channel includes masterclass and exam tip videos

- ACCA Study Support: The ACCA website offers introductory video lectures and notes on exam modules, along with free practice exams
- ACCA-X: ACCA has partnered with edX to offer a number of free introductory courses in bookkeeping and management accounting
- Acowtancy: This ACCA and CIMA-approved website offers paid online classes in both qualifications, but the study notes and mock exams are free
- OpenTuition: This CIMA approved website offers free resources for both ACCA and CIMA qualifications, including notes, video lectures, flash cards, and mock exams. They also offer discount codes for purchasing textbooks from BPP.
CIMA
- Acowtancy: See above
- Astranti: A CIMA-certified tutor with which you can register for free material
- CIMA Planner: CIMA offers a planner page to its members with a variety of study guides, exam resources, and webinars
- OpenTuition: See above
- Practice Tests Academy: This CIMA certified website offers free mock exam packages
- The CIMA Student: A blog with a CIMA member’s journey, which includes exam tips
There seems to be a lot of resources geared more towards studying with ACCA (particularly YouTube channels), which is looking like a more popular choice for many students.
