Telecommunications – Birmingham
Initially one of the world’s first public telegraph companies, BT was formed in 1912. The holding corporation has since expanded into phone lines, broadband, mobile networks, and subscription television. They have operations in 180 different countries.

Catering – Rubery
One of the largest catering companies in the world, Compass operates in 45 different countries. Their clientele includes schools and universities, hospitals and care homes, prisons, and offshore oil platforms. Although headquartered in Chertsey, they have offices in Rubery.

Banking – Birmingham
Established in Hong Kong 1865, HSBC is one of the largest banking and financial services organisations, operating in 65 different countries. HSBC UK’s head office re-located to Birmingham in 2018.

Engineering – Coventry
Founded in 1947, Meggitt is predominantly involved in the development of aircraft components, both for military and commercial use. While they have production facilities in Birmingham, their head office is situated in Coventry.

Manufacturing – Birmingham
Founded in 2003, this company acquires manufacturing companies. They oversee companies in the aerospace, automotive, and metallurgical industries. The company’s head office is in London, but they have a registered office in Birmingham.

Utilities – Warwick
National Grid owns the electricity transmission networks in England and Wales, ensuring that every home and business receives the power they need. In 2021, they expanded into gas transmission. While their corporate headquarters is in London, they have an operational headquarters in Warwick.

Supermarkets – Coventry
Established in 1869, Sainsbury’s has over 600 supermarkets and 800 convenience stores. They have since expanded into banking and the acquisition of other brands such as Argos and Habitat.

Utility – Coventry
Established in 1974, Severn Trent is responsible for most water supply and sewage disposal in the Midlands. They serve an estimated 4.6 million homes and businesses in the area. Their headquarters is situated in Coventry.
